From Biking to Building – It’s Hairy!

We are looking forward the start of a new BBC TV documentary tonight (Monday 11th July) after we helped with its planning and provided support to its producers during filming.

We were tasked by one of our clients ,York-based building conservation specialist William Anelay Ltd, to liaise with CPL Productions. They have produced The Hairy Builder. It is a new series fronted by Dave Mayers - one half of TV cooking duo The Hairy Bikers. It follows the company’s conservation projects as they pass through different stages. Founded in 1747, William Anelay Ltd is one of the oldest construction companies in the world.

Following the commission, One 360 owner and MD Emma Webb took part in the initial planning and creative phase and then provided assistance to producers from CPL, ensuring they had the required access, as they visited various heritage construction projects. These included some of the country’s most important stately homes, cathedrals and listed buildings. The Mansion House in Doncaster, Pontefract Castle, Bradford City Hall and Ampleforth College were among the Yorkshire locations.

"It was both fascinating and enjoyable to work with and facilitate CPL Productions, as they toured the country to film at many of  William Anelay’s construction sites", said Emma Webb.

She added: "I am looking forward to seeing the results of their work and I'm sure The Hairy Builder series will be informative, highly enjoyable and reflect the amazing and unique work of the company."

The Hairy Builder will begin airing from Monday 11th July  2016 at 6.30pm on BBC Two. The BBC’s planned schedule is currently to air one show per day, every weekday (Monday to Friday) for three weeks, but this may be subject to change.

The documentary is being produced for the BBC by CPL Productions. They are the makers of current ITV comedy Brief Encounters and are a BAFTA award winning independent production company run by Danielle Lux (formally Controller of Entertainment both at BBC and C4), Murray Boland (formally Controller of E4 and MTVUK), Heather Hampson and Janet Oakes.  CPL work on modern entertainment and factual formats, as well as scripted television.
